A co-op puzzle built around two elements
Forest Temple is a room-by-room puzzle adventure for two elemental heroes. Each chamber has a simple finish line—put Fireboy and Watergirl at their own doors—but the route is usually shared, so every jump, switch, and wait matters to both characters.
It is the most direct way to learn the series: look over the whole room, decide what has to stay activated, then move the pair through the space without turning a safe path into a dead end.
Core mechanics: match the hero to the route
Fireboy can use lava lanes and pick up red diamonds. Watergirl can travel through water and collect blue diamonds. Neither hero can survive the green pools, so the same obstacle can be a shortcut for one character and a full stop for the other.
Levers, crates, lifts, and floor switches turn the rooms into small cooperation problems. Many devices only help while somebody is standing on them, which means one player often creates the opening while the other uses it.
- Read door symbols before choosing a route.
- Keep temporary platforms and switches in view before moving away.
- Treat green liquid as a no-go zone for both heroes.
New-player strategy: solve the exit before the diamonds
First identify both exit doors and sketch a safe route to them. Once you know that the room can be completed, return for diamonds that sit off the main path. This prevents a collectible from splitting the team at the worst moment.
In solo play, move one hero to a stable ledge before switching attention to the other. With two people, call out when a switch must remain pressed; releasing it a second too early is a common source of restarts.
Controls and co-op setup
One keyboard supports both heroes: use the arrow keys for Fireboy and W, A, S, D for Watergirl. A single player can alternate between the two sets, while two players can divide the controls and coordinate aloud.
Keep both heroes moving with a plan. Fireboy can cross lava and collect red diamonds. Watergirl can cross water and collect blue diamonds. Neither character can touch the green pools.

Common questions
Can one person play Forest Temple?
Yes. The puzzle design supports one person controlling both heroes; move one into a safe waiting spot before operating the other.
Do I need every diamond to finish a room?
The main objective is to bring both heroes to their matching exits. Diamonds are an optional reason to explore a better route.
